If you’re like a lot of patients we meet at Brady Dental Care, you want straighter teeth but not the metal and wires that come with traditional braces. We understand how important this is, which is why we offer ClearCorrect, Invisalign, and Sure Smile.

ClearCorrect, Invisalign, and Sure Smile are comfortable and discreet alternatives to metal and wire braces and generally less expensive. If you are interested in a more gentle approach to correcting your bite, give us a call to see if one of these methods is right for you!

Assessing Your Smile for Clear Braces

Clear Braces are a fantastic solution to crooked teeth, and they are ideal for older teenagers and most adults. However, your smile goals play a large part in what our dentists recommend. In other words, they have to be confident that ClearCorrect or Invisalign will give you the smile you’ve always wanted. Other oral health factors also play a role in your assessment.

Our dentists will evaluate your teeth and gums, factor in your smile goals, and decide whether Invisalign, ClearCorrect, Sure Smile, or an alternative is the best option for you.

How Clear Braces Work

If it’s determined that clear braces are right for you, Dr. Corbin Brady will take impressions of your teeth. These impressions are used to create plastic trays called aligners. These are used to gently bring your teeth into alignment over a course of time determined by your dentist. You start by wearing the first aligner in the series and switch to the next after two weeks. You continue on this course until your teeth have come into position.

Generally, you wear your aligners for 22 hours per day- only removed for eating. They are virtually invisible and almost completely unnoticeable.

Following the clear braces process, one of our dentists will provide a custom retainer to help you protect your investment. This is a comfortable device that helps remind your teeth to stay in their new positions.

The Benefits of Clear Braces

Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign and ClearCorrect aligners are made of clear, smooth plastic and designed to be comfortable. There is never any metal to scrape your cheeks or wires that require tightening.

Because you can remove your aligners when eating and drinking, you’ll never have to worry about food getting caught in wires or brackets. You can also remove your aligners when brushing and flossing, which allows for an easier and more hygienic oral health routine.

Following clear braces, your teeth will be straight, and straight teeth are not only aesthetically pleasing– they directly benefit your overall oral health. Straight teeth are easier to care for, and an aligned bite saves wear and erosion on your smile.

Who is a Candidate for Clear Braces?

Clear braces are designed to give you a straight smile that you can be proud of, and a straight smile that contributes to better oral health. If you are concerned about crooked teeth or an underbite or overbite, clear braces may be able to help!

Issues that clear braces address include:

  • Bite issues—overbite, for example

  • Crooked teeth

  • Crowded teeth

  • Overlapping teeth

  • Twisted teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

How to Care for Clear Braces
It’s easy to practice good oral hygiene habits while using clear braces. Just remove the aligners and brush and floss as usual!

To care for your aligners, brush and rinse them with warm water to keep them in good shape and free of bacteria. Never use hot water as this could warp the plastic. If that does happen, or if the aligners crack or are damaged, please call Brady Dental Care immediately. Damaged aligners will no longer work correctly.

Always brush your teeth after eating and before replacing aligners to prevent trapping bacteria against your teeth or staining the aligners.
